The Frankenstein Monster: Sunlight

Although "The Bride of Frankenstein" remains my favorite Frankenstein movie, I prefer the look of the monster from the original "Frankenstein" (1931). Unlike the big, hulking image we typically associate with the creature, his first appearance reveals a very gaunt, haunting figure who really DOES appear to be exactly what he is: a reanimated corpse. The moment in the film I attempted to capture (one that never fails to move me) is when the creature slowly turned his face upward toward sunlight that his creator allowed to shine into the dark castle. Moments later, the demented Fritz (Frankenstein's assistant) provoked the creature into a rage, robbing him of this brief moment of peace and wonder.
